A Preliminary Exploration of Enabling Home-Based Elderly Care Through New Modal Intelligent Communities
Against the dual backdrop of accelerating aging and digital transformation
smart communities offer a novel paradigm for the development of home-based elderly care. Drawing upon the analytical frameworks of technological sociology and public governance theory
this paper systematically examines how technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT)
artificial intelligence (AI)
and big data reshape the home-based elderly care service system. Employing a hybrid research methodology encompassing case studies
technical validation
and policy text analysis
this paper uncovers the tensions among diverse stakeholders' needs and the challenges of technology adaptation. Subsequently
it proposes a "cloud-edge-end" collaborative architecture and a multi-tiered service ecosystem model. Research findings indicate that smart communities can effectively bridge the "service gap" in traditional home-based elderly care through a dynamic balance between resource integration
emergency response
and privacy protection. The research conclusions not only offer theoretical underpinning for the integrated elderly care model encompassing "technology
service
and governance"
but also distill policy optimization pathways and technology adaptation strategies that can be promoted through localized practices in Shanghai
